As part of our work to brand the National Heritage Board’s 20th Anniversary year, we also undertook the refresh of their quarterly guide: I ♥ Museums. We reorganised the content extensively (even changing the format from DL to a more handy A5 size) to present the large variety of activities and exhibitions that happen throughout the year. Of course, typography played a large part, and here we utilised the beautiful Lyon to great effect.

Branding, Publication Design for National Heritage Board

As part of our work to brand the National Heritage Board’s 20th Anniversary year, we also undertook the refresh of their quarterly guide: I ♥ Museums. We reorganised the content extensively (even changing the format from DL to a more handy A5 size) to present the large variety of activities and exhibitions that happen throughout the year. Of course, typography played a large part, and here we utilised the beautiful Lyon to great effect.

The overview page went through a complete overhaul. Each main museum was assigned a colour to make information hierarchy clearer. Specific thumbnails of choice art and artefacts break the visual monotony of the exhibition listings.

Inside, the layout is kept clean with the text running across two columns. Exhibition details such as prices, duration and musuem opening times are neatly displayed at the side. Highlighted exhibitions are allocated a spread to entice the view with images. Our aim was to make the guide as open and accessible as possible.

The back of the guide features an all-new pull out section that details every museum and cultural institution under the National Heritage Umbrella. The majority are clustered in the Civic District, which the map shows. Careful attention was paid to the typography and colours, which were applied with existing colour usage in mind. For example, the Perankan Museum is known to use pink as part of its colour palette, and the colour was duly allocated to the museum here.
